If you want to hear a crazy rock story, meet Andy Khachaturian. He was original drummer for System Of A Down and frontman for the now defunct Armenian-American quartet The Apex Theory — ever wonder what happened to those guys?
If you were born after 1990, you may not be too familiar with The Apex Theory. But back in the day (circa 2002) they used to tour with bands like Glassjaw, Alien Ant Farm, do stints on Warped Tour and Ozzfest — they also had videos in constant rotation on MTV2. Then they just kinda vanished.
Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), and Daron Malakian (System of a Down), are amongst a handful of artists to appear on Cypress Hill’s forthcoming album, “Rise Up”. The record is scheduled to be released on April 6th.
System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian has released a new track entitled “Salute/Sacrifice” with his project Achozen – a collaborative effort with The RZA (Wu-Tang Clan). The song can be heard here.
It is rumored that System of a Down may be reuniting after Daron Malakian, Shavo Odajian, and drummer John Dolmayan played a set at The Roxy in West Hollywood on Halloween. More details to follow.
