And So I Watch You From Afar releasing The Endless Shimmering

by | Aug 24, 2017

You know who’s coming out with a new album this fall? And So I Watch You From Afar. The Northern Ireland lads are releasing The Endless Shimmering in October.

It’s album #5 for the Belfast quartet. A follow up to 2015’s Heirs, the band lays everything bare with this new record.

Bassist Johnathan Adger elaborated,

“The album was charged with a lot of what we were all going through as individuals. But we wanted to allow it to become people’s soundtrack to whatever they need in their life at this moment.”

The band recorded the album at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. An interesting thing to point out: As they got to the studio, there was a major snowstorm and the entire Northeast came to a standstill.

Guitarist Rory Friers commented,

“We tracked, ate, washed and slept at the studio. And 9 days later we had recorded and mixed the entire album just as the snow began to melt.”

This fall ASIWYFA will embark on a major European tour to support The Endless Shimmering. We’ve got our fingers crossed for US dates.

Here’s a video for their new single “A Slow Unfolding of Wings.”

The Endless Shimmering comes out October 20th through Sargent House.

Daath: The Ryan’s Rock Show Interview

Out of the hundreds of interviews that I’ve done for Ryan’s Rock Show, only a select few have truly been fascinating. While some bands may see a Ryan’s Rock Show interview as a cheap exchange of public relations, for me these interviews give first-hand insight into...

Deafheaven Interview: George Clarke & Kerry McCoy on their Success & The World of Blogging

It’s hard to imagine that Deafheaven’s success all spawned off the release of their 2010 demo. Even frontman George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy are among the disbelievers, especially since they recorded the four-track effort out of boredom. Since...

This Is Hell Interview: The New Material, Soldiers, & Stories from the Road

This Is Hell bassist Pieter Vandenberg insists that last fall’s run supporting Bring Me The Horizon and August Burns Red wasn’t just any kind of tour — it was a rock spectacle. “[Vocalist Travis Reilly] would get up on the mic… and would go...
