SYSTEM OF A DOWN: We’re Trying to Bring Our Material Together

by | May 6, 2016

There’s been years and years of talk about a new System of a Down record. The band hasn’t put anything out since 2005’s album Hypnotize, but fans have been hopeful since last year’s world tour.

Looks like they’ve been separately working on song ideas though — at least from what frontman Serj Tankian told Rolling Stone.

We’re communicating and trying to see if we can bring our material together. There’s definitely a lot of communication going on, a lot of back and forth. I can’t make a statement in terms of whether we’re going to have a record or not, because we haven’t gone into the studio and done it. But there’s definitely communication going on, songs being played to each other and all that stuff, so it’s good. We’ll see what happens.

Finger crossed on that.

In related SOAD news, Serj recently wrote a new political song for the people of Artsakh. And in November he’ll be doing an Elect the Dead Symphony/Orca show at the Valley Performing Arts Center at Cal State Northridge.

WOVENWAR Interview with Nick Hipa & Shane Blay

All things considered, it’s pretty crazy how Wovenwar started. Everybody knows the story of what happened with As I Lay Dying, but not many people know that the seeds of Wovenwar were actually planted over a decade ago deep in the heart of Texas, long before As...

Beartooth Interview: Ex-Attack Attack!’s Caleb Shomo Reemerges with a Sharper Bite

When Caleb Shomo quit Attack Attack! last December he was in the darkest year of his life. “Having thousands of people tell you you’re a ‘fat piece of shit’ isn’t exactly the easiest thing to deal with at 17,” he said in his farewell...
