Alexisonfire Olympics Show Cancelled After Crowd Surge; 20 Injured, 9 Hospitalized

An Olympics concert in Vancouver featuring Alexisonfire was shut down Tuesday after a surging crowd caused a section of the barricade near the stage to collapse, reports the Vancouver Sun.

Twenty people were treated on site; nine of them were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

“We always take great care in the safety of our fans and are saddened that this happened,” comments the band.  “We are sincerely sorry that people were injured.  We want to thank the security team, paramedics and police for their quick reaction. We especially want to thank our fans for cooperating and not making a bad situation worse.”
