It’s been several years since we’ve heard anything about The Damned Things. The band that features members of Anthrax, Every Time I Die, and Fall Out Boy put out their debut album Ironiclast in 2010, toured a bunch, and kept it quiet ever since. Will 2017 be the year for new music?

Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman joined NK onstage a couple times during their trek last week.
NK will join Fall Out Boy on a run of dates later this month.
With Knives, featuring Josh Newton (ex-Every Time I Die, The Damned Things) and recently joined Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy, The Damned Things), will enter a Kansas City studio in February to begin tracking their debut EP.
Originally formed as Newton’s solo project, the newly formed band plans to tour in support of the EP, Trohman stated, adding “We plan on putting it out ourselves using our Son Of Man thing as a record label. The plan is to release it as a 10” and download only, considering more people own and use a computer these days than a CD player.”
A few weeks ago it was revealed that Fall Out Boy drummer Andy Hurley will be filling in for Earth Crisis drummer Dennis Merrick on the band’s upcoming April/May tour with First Blood and Thick As Blood.
Merrick will perform on the first four dates or the tour; Hurley will handle drumming duties on the remaining dates.
Hurley comments: “Earth Crisis is one of my favorite bands ever. They are the reason why I am vegan and straight edge. The origins of most of my philosophical/political beliefs come from them introducing me to a whole new way of thinking. When I was asked to fill in on the upcoming tour, I was beyond stoked. It felt like being called up to the major league, and I think that this will be the most fun I will have on a tour. Be sure to come check it out because this is a band whose songs beat in my heart and who have never forgotten how to write brutally awesome songs.”
